ABOUT CHRISTELLE
Christelle obtained her LLB degree in 2016, whereafter she commenced her articles under the supervision of her principal, Ms Marietjie Lanser, in August 2016. During her candidacy, Christelle had the pleasure of being part of the legal team in the Kiewitz matter which was heard in February 2017 in the Supreme Court of Appeal, wherein the full bench ruled in their client’s favour.
During her articles, Christelle gained valuable experience in both High and lower court litigation, inquest proceedings and investigation of medical (clinical) negligence matters, with a special interest in bile duct injuries as well as CP (cerebral palsy) cases. Her dedication and commitment culminated in her admission as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in June 2018, whereafter she was offered a fulltime position at LLA Attorneys Inc. as a professional assistant, and thereafter promoted to an associate attorney in October 2019.
Christelle also spearheaded a successful opposed application in Northern Cape High Court in October 2020, during which the judicial precedent pertaining to statutory notices in terms of Act 40 of 2002 was confirmed in her client’s favour.
In June 2023, Christelle achieved another milestone in her career when she was appointed as a director of her firm, a mere five years since her admission as attorney, and a testament to her hard work, expertise, and dedication to the medical negligence field of law. She is also currently studying toward completing her BSc Biomedical Sciences degree.
Having grown up in rural Oudtshoorn, Christelle feels fortunate to use her legal skills to assist clients, especially in medical negligence cases, where she can make a meaningful difference in their lives.
